Avoiding Tactical Lock-Step (Podcast – Season 5, Ballistic Radio Episode 225, September 27th, 2017)

“There’s a big grey area in there where a lot of people have these guns, a lot of people are comfortable with them and we should be able to show them how to get the most out of them without forcing them, kicking and screaming into the 21st century, to make them carry or use whatever gun we think is best.” — Chris Baker

There’s often a temptation to think there’s nothing that can be learned from old techniques or equipment; that we’ve moved on for a reason and those things are better left forgotten. Chris Baker, Lucky Gunner Ammo’s High Grand Magus of Clue, joins the show to talk about the reputation he has earned as a tourist of old tactics, techniques and firearms and how he has experimented with melding the antiquated with the modern.

In this episode, Chris talks about meeting students where they are, the trends in the industry and some of the myths you hear about equipment and technique. He shares what excites him about the industry going forward and what he thinks is most helpful for students, whether they are bringing along old equipment and old techniques or wanting to race into the future as a new hobbyist.
