“From the cop side {there’s} a lack of training and understanding of the constitution and how to factually articulate what they’re doing and why they are doing it because gun equals bad is what the training typically devolves down to.” — Lee Weems
Ballistic Radio is pleased to Welcome Chief Deputy Lee Weems from the Oconee County Georgia Sheriff’s Office and First Person Safety to talk about interactions between law enforcement personnel and armed citizens. Lee discusses the three tiers of law enforcement interaction–consensual encounters, investigatory stops and custodial arrests– citizen rights in those interactions and ways that both law enforcement and citizens get themselves in trouble when it comes to legally carried firearms in those interactions. This episode is as useful to law enforcement as it is to the citizen in ensuring peaceful encounters between the two.
