I Wish a MFer Would…n’t (Podcast – Season 6, Ballistic Radio Episode 277, October 28th, 2018)

“Planning on winning also includes planning on the aftermath of winning and it isn’t good, it’s just better than the other alternative.” — William Aprill

Every now and then we are made aware of a “defensive” shooting that doesn’t look too good from the outside. These instances can and often do lead to legal charges being brought against the supposed “good” guy. As frustrating as it can seem for those who study use of force and all of its intricate subtleties, what can be more astounding is that these events take place at all. Why do some people involve themselves in less-than-lethal situations and escalate them unnecessarily? Why do they use lethal force inappropriately? Why do some people seem almost eager to get into violent encounters with firearms?

Joining Ballistic Radio to help us understand these motivations is Dr William Aprill. William helps us examine what drives human behavior, what inspires some people to think fondly of killing others, and how we can protect ourselves mentally and emotionally from falling into the same traps.
