@radicaleb_ once made a meme about whatever gun I’m getting paid to shoot versus @boresightsolutions Glocks. I laughed because 1. It was funny and 2. He wasn’t wrong...

Just finished this book and I thought I’d take t Just finished this book and I thought I’d take the time to share the very first book review I’ve ever written. Something I’ll add here, that I didn’t put in the general review, the violence is very well done. The author knows what’s up, and is a member of the training community.

Full Disclosure: The author has been an acquaintance of mine for several years.

Blood and Whispers is part murder mystery and part psychological profile, set in a modern world where magic exists, and it doesn’t like you very much.

The book does an excellent job of being entertaining while also taking the concept of an origin story, and approaching it from a rarely seen angle.

When we meet him, The protagonist isn’t searching for power, he’s already got it. He’s not looking for dragons to slay, they’re already dead. He’s not hungry for glory, he’s earned that and found it chafes. Instead we meet a man whose greatest enemy, is himself.

I *greatly* enjoyed the author’s effort at examining the emotional toll wielding the power of creation might take on a man after several lifetimes, and enjoyed even more seeing what would force such a man to reenter the world again.

If you enjoy Jim Butcher, or Lev Grossman, and would have liked to have seen Hermit Luke figure out his issues without suckling from a space manatee and turning into a pacifist, you’ll probably really enjoy this book.

I’m incredibly hopeful the author continues the series, as I’m excited to see what comes next.

It’s difficult to see here but if you watch closely I’ve got the v-bar gripped in such a way that when I’m doing these pulls my ring and baby fingers are the digits primarily responsible for holding onto the bar. This has direct implications for the technique that I use/teach to grip a pistol.

Sunday evening I was gifted a pre-production sample of @phlster's soon to be released Light Bearing Enigma concealment chassis, paired with a @darkstargear Rigel holster. For those that don't know, the Rigel is a G34 length holster.

The following day I drove 700+ miles over the course of 13 hours in the pictured setup carrying my @boresightsolutions G45 with Trijicon RMR, Surefire x300, and 18 rounds of 124gr +P Gold Dot.

I can say with 100% certainty that this was the most physically comfortable I've been while carrying a full size handgun with WML, EVER. So much so that it's completely changed my definition of "comfort" for that scenario. I don't recall adjusting the gun once during the entire drive, nor do I recall adjusting it during the 2 times I stopped for gas. I simply placed the gun in the optimal physical position for me, and it stayed there without shifting, completely independent of my clothing, under what many commentators on the internet would have you believe are the most difficult conditions there are for physical comfort and AIWB carry.

The gun was concealed, accessible, and secure, the entire trip. The gun happened to be all of those things while I was wearing sweatpants. The gun would have also been all of those things in regular pants, gym shorts, dress pants, or even without pants at all (ok, maybe not the concealed part).

I cannot stress enough how much of a paradigm shift the Enigma family of products represents for concealed carriers of all shapes, sizes, and genders. If you're thinking of this simply as a "niche" product, or a product that will primarily benefit individuals of one specific type, I would respectfully disagree with you.

With the caveat and understanding that there are no 100% solutions that will work for every single person in existence, I struggle to think of a product that I've ever run across in my career that I have been more excited by, or would give a higher recommendation to try out.

If we were using a 10 point scale, with 10 representing the highest possible favorable opinion of a product, this one goes to 11.
